WHAT TO WEAR

THE DAYS LEADING UP TO YOUR SESSION

This is the most asked question by all of my clients!
My number one tip is to make sure you are comfortable in what you are wearing. Does it fit? Do you like the way it feels? Do you feel great when you wear it? Can you bend down and move around in it?

Neutral colors always photograph well in the studio - combining colors + textures that compliment each other, patterns that don't compete, pops of color and jewelry accents can be a great addition as well!

Things to avoid when choosing your outfits include big logos or graphics, neon colors and busy patterns that clash with each other. For reference of backdrop, my studio has white walls + natural wood floors. Looking for some Headshot outfit inspiration?

Planning to get a hair cut or color done prior to your photos?
I suggest doing this at least a week before your session date
(if you are able) Just in case you need time to get used to
styling it or it should not end up the way you hoped - that way
you have time to make any necessary adjustments if needed!

Always double check that the outfit you've chosen fits!
If you are unsure of what to wear, feel free to ask for my help ahead of time. If you are worried about wrinkling any of your clothing you can always change at the studio.

Please also be sure your nails are either plain or freshly painted, as I do not edit out chipped nail polish for clients. When it comes to makeup - stick to what makes you feel good and what makes you look most like yourself! I always suggest keeping makeup fresh + natural. If you have any acne / blemishes you'd like edited out, just let me know during our session time together.

POSING

No need to come to your session with posing ideas! I've been doing this for years and I know exactly how to guide clients into poses that feel natural - and look flattering!

I know it can sometimes feel awkward and uncomfortable to be in front of the camera, so my goal is to make this experience as stress-free and relaxed as possible! I want you to feel great and walk away with beautiful photos you can confidently use.

With the slushy weather, please bring a change of shoes to wear in the studio (or go shoeless if you prefer!) Unless requested, I will not be taking photos that include your full body / feet - so you most likely won't see your shoes.

I do have a bathroom down the hall from the studio and mirrors in the studio. If you so choose, items that you could bring just in case would be: a comb or brush, hairspray, lipstick or chapstick or any makeup items in case of touchups.

As always, if you have any questions for me during or before your session, please do not hesitate to ask!

TIMING + LOCATION

Mini Session start times are always predetermined
when you book - and the location for these Headshot
minis is my natural light studio in Downtown Duluth.

The studio space is located on the 3rd floor of the
Historic Hunter building, so there is unfortunately no elevator. Parking is best on 1st Avenue West or down
on Superior Street at metered spots. Our building
access door is on 1st Avenue West - next to the
Zenith City Piercing + Tattoo shop.

It is important to note that our building is often locked,
so you may not be able to get in on your own. Please use
the call box next to the door to be buzzed upstairs. It will
be listed as "Amanda / Bailey" and the studio is Suite 502.

Studio Address: 31 West Superior Street
Suite 502 (3rd Floor)
